Follow These Steps To Get Your Garden Patio Ready For Summer

The sun has certainly got his hat on as of late, and we’re sneaking our way through June to the middle of summer. It’s a fun time for everyone, particularly with the prospect of lockdowns being lifted and life returning to something resembling normal. Even so, many of you are reading this in places where you are allowed to get together with friends and family in outdoor areas – such as your garden!

With that in mind, it’s time to get everything ready for the summer fun and festivities. As you can see from the title, today’s post is all about getting your garden patio ready. The chances are you have been a bit behind on your maintenance schedule after a long winter and the world’s wettest spring. So, follow these steps to ensure your garden patio is ready for a whole summer of entertainment:

Get rid of any weeds

Weeds are likely to grow between the grout in your patio. They can be incredibly annoying and will make your entire patio space look a lot worse for wear. As such, you need to begin by getting rid of any weeds on your patio. This can be done a few ways – you could rip them up manually or use a strimmer. Either way, it helps to lay down some weed killer after to ensure they truly die and don’t come back.

Clean your patio

Next, you need to embark on deep cleaning of your patio. There are several methods and things you need to use here to do this. Firstly, it is highly beneficial to get a pressure washer for your patio. They can be expensive, but it’s a worthwhile investment if you want to maintain your patio for as long as possible. Pressure washers can eliminate so much dirt and grime, leaving your patio looking brand new. You can always pay someone to do this for you if you don’t want to buy one yourself.

You should also sweep away any leaves or debris on the patio – preferably before power washing it. A simple garden broom will do the trick, though you could get a leaf blower if things are really bad. As well as cleaning the patio, clean your house as well. The walls and patio doors might be very dirty, so give them a little wash too.

Add a new lick of paint

Speaking of your walls and doors, they could do with a fresh lick of paint to get them ready for the summer. They are technically part of your overall patio area, so don’t forget about them when you get everything ready. Paint might be chipped away after some harsh weather, and a new lick of the stuff can improve the way it looks.

Deal with the furniture

After the first three steps, you’ll be in the following position. Your patio is clean and tidy, as is the area around it. Now, you have to start thinking about the entertainment during the summer, meaning you require garden furniture. If you don’t already have some, get your hands on some lovely stuff. Opt for items like the garden furniture at Cuckooland because you know it is made for outdoor use. That’s the key here; you can’t use indoor furniture on your patio as it will end up getting ruined. The exact items you buy will depend on the size of your patio and what you use it for. Some of you may only need a couple of sun loungers, others might want a whole outdoor dining set.

If you do have furniture for your patio, make sure you give it a thorough clean. Make it the best it can possibly be, and see if it stands up to your expectations. Hopefully, you have some shiny garden furniture that looks great on your patio. If it’s still too dirty or unkempt, get some new stuff instead!

Set up your lighting

Finally, don’t forget to add lighting to your patio area. You can literally choose any type of lights you want, such as fairy lights, outdoor lamps, and so on. The choice is yours; you just need to ensure there’s an easy way for people to see when chilling on your patio in the evening.

On that note, you’ve finished all of the steps to get your garden patio ready for summer. There’s not a huge deal to do, but it helps if you can get everything done as soon as possible. The longer you leave it, the harder it’ll end up being.
