Wondering what are the tops things to do in the Lake District?
Rob Parry from Lake District Offers and Discounts tells us exactly what are the top things to do in the Lake District below. I want to visit now!
The Lake District is the perfect UK location for any kind of break – Be it for a family, romantic couple, girly pamper weekend or a lad’s adventure trip – Heck it’s an ideal place to go for a solo trip!
What other location can take your breath away with it’s stunning views of the mountains and lakes, whichever area you may visit.
Why is it called The Lake District?
So called because of its many Lakes dotted around the region of Cumbria, there’s a number of different areas to consider dependant on the kind of break you want. For your busy areas full of pubs, restaurants, shops and activities, your best areas or Bowness, Windermere and Keswick. For a more quieter, laid back visit take a look at the beautiful village of Grasmere or Coniston.
Obviously no visit to the Lake District is complete without a walk – be it a lake side walk or a Scaffel Pike hike there are plenty of guides and books, including online, to point you in the right direction.
The best Lake District walks…
There are some amazing attractions in the Lake District and some stunning walks to be had along the lakes called Ullswater, Buttermere and Derwent. Between Ambleside and Grasmere you have Rydal water where, with a little exploration, you’ll discover caves too! Walking is definitely one of the top things to do in the Lake District.
And for the climbers amongst you there’s many great climbs for you to challenge yourself – Look out for Catbells in Keswick or Loughrigg Fell near Grasmere for starters. Whichever you choose you’ll be guaranteed stunning views (and a good nights sleep!).
More of the top things to do in the Lake District…
If all that sound a touch more exerting than you’d like, consider the many stunning hotels that offer spa days or afternoon tea’s. With the beautiful countryside and lake views, it’s the perfect setting for a relaxing bit of down time or romantic escape. Surely one of the top things to do in the Lake District if you just want to relax?
There’s some beautiful hotels to choose from for such an escape – Wordsworth Hotel in Grasmere, Low Wood Bay in Windermere, Lodore Falls in Keswick or Armathwaite Hall at Bassenthwaite.
There’s plenty of other activities to consider too – Cycling, kayaking, boating, abseiling, ghyll scrambling, mountain biking, segwaying, treetop adventuring, zip wires, caving, flying, horse riding and much much more!
Staying over in The Lake District?
Regards staying over, you’re spoilt for choice too – from camping and glamping, lodges or caravans, your very own cottage or one of the many B&B’s and hotels – There’s something for everyone!
Escape, experience, explore! It’s all here in the Lake District!
Thank you to Rob from writing this fantastic post.

Loads of activities to do here. The Lake District is so beautiful too.
I have still never been! We were hoping to go last year but didn’t really have the spare cash or the time. It certainly looks beautiful!
I have never been to the lake district I keep seeing peoples pictures and really they could be abroad. I really need to add it to our family travel bucket list!
We are looking at taking a UK holiday now this year, rather than our pre-planned holiday abroad. Having seen this, the Lake District is a serious contender. It looks
amazing!

I have been living in Scotland for three years. I have always thought that the UK is one of the most beautiful areas in the world, but I did not imagine that there are places that will fascinate me at first sight. I have to get to the Lake District for at least a day.
The Lake District is one of my favourite places in the world! We love Buttermere, in fact, my partner proposed to me there!
I love this area. I used to holiday there a lot as a child. I need to take my own children now!
Lake District looks absolutely amazing and beautiful. Will definitely visit this summer
My parents and sister visit the Lake District and their photos always make me envious. It’s such a beautiful place.
